Saturday Morning Science; Forest & Greenhouse Gases: A Science Primer

At this week’s Saturday Morning Science talk MU scientist Stephen Pallardy will describe how the earth’s forest are both contributing and removing greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Pallardy will also explore how forests can play a role in improving greenhouse gas emissions. You don’t need to be a scientist to enjoy this free, one hour talk on Saturday, March 20th. Lee Expressive Arts Elementary School is having its fourth annual Silent Film/Silent Art Auction on Saturday evening, March 20, at the Missouri Theatre, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. This gala event is open to the public and is a popular community showcase of artwork by area artists and Lee Students. The event raises funds for our Artist-in-Residence Program. This year, we feature the silent film “Go West”, starring Buster Keaton. The film will be accompanied by Rats and People Motion Picture Orchestra, performing an original score they composed for the film.

Silent films mix with two and three dimensional art created by local artists and students of Lee Expressive Arts Elementary School to create a gala eveing that is fun for people of all ages.
Gala partrons browse the artwork - reflecting a range of art styles and media as well as price ranges. Patrons also enjoy a classic, rarely seen silent film, "Go West", starring Buster Keaton to the accompaniment of live music by Rats & People Motion Picture Orchestra. Some art is available through silent auction, while other art can be purchased immediately. At the fiml's end, winners of the silent auction are announced.
Admission for this fourth annual event is $10 for patrons 14 years and above, $5 for patrons aged 4-13, and $1 for children 3 years and under. Donating artist and Lee students are admitted for free. The evening's proceed support arts education at Lee Expressive Arts Elementary School.
